In 2004, Suzanne wanted to do something extra to honor Chris. Although she never was a runner, she decided to challenge herself and run a marathon.
On the morning of November 13,2004, Suzanne awoke to a rainy, 35 degree morning in Richmond, Virginia. Wearing Chris' favorite University of Tennessee cap, she was cheered on by 30 friends and family members in matching caps as she ran the 26.2 mile course and raised $8000 in sponsorships for the Memorial Fund.
Since then, Suzanne has run a marathon every year, with the exception of 2008, the year our son Grayson was born. She has personally raised more than $40,000 in sponsorships for her marathon runs and continues to train each year with 5K's, 10K's, 1/2 marathons, and of course the full marathon in Richmond, Virginia each November.
